Immigrant Action

Friends of Miami-Dade Detainees is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides direct support to our immigrant community, including hundreds of people in immigrant detention centers. FOMDD volunteers visit with people detained at Broward Transitional Center in Pompano Beach, Glades County Jail in Moore Haven, and Krome Service Processing Center in Miami. Over the last 7 years, they have made over 4,000 visits, offering people in immigration detention a link to the outside world, a link to legal help, phone time, books, clothing for deportation or release, help with temporary housing, and more.
